A wall is not a reason to stop, but a cause to seek new direction.
I've made this quote before and it is a paradigm for my life and weight loss journey. But, its origin came from some pretty tramatic events. In mid-2010, I was on a roll in working out and dropping weight. Then, I noticed I began to lose feeling in my hip area and down my left leg. By fall, I was losing use of my left leg and had to resort to use of a cain to walk. After a great deal of testing, I had learned that a disc in my thoracic spine (T-11/T12) had herniated and was pressing into my spinal cord. I was literally millimeters from a wheel chair for life. I had the surgery to repair the damage in January 2011. By April, I was back in the gym with a vengence! However, I had to face the fact that there were now exercise I could not do because of the nature of the surgery. This was the "wall" I had to negotiate. And I did just that! Today, after finally getting the diet right, I'm dropping pounds and shrinking like a cotton shirt in a drier. After my surgery, I adopted a song called "Indestructible" by Distrubed as a sort of theme. Not because my body is indestructible, but because my will and determination are! That's why I ...
