Heart Rate Monitor/Calorie Counter

Does anyone have a suggestion on a HRM?
I bought one but it wants me to press and hold it in two places and wait for a couple seconds to get my heart rate.
To count calories, I have to do that periodically throughout the exercies (the more the better) but, stopping every few minutes in an exercise doesn't really allow one to exercise effectively.
I found one that interests me, but I was just wondering what others might be using and what I should be looking for in an HRM before I jump out and spend the money on another one.
