Fitbit Zip users - question logging running/jogging

I just bought a Fitbit Zip yesterday, because I do a lot of walking and have started jogging/running. How do you all log your cardio (i.e. if you go out for a run/jog). do you just let MFP sync to your Zip and not do anything?

Or, for example if you go for a run, do you input your start time in your exercise section, and how long you ran for, to get a more accurate estimate? I'm kind of confused on that part.

And also, does removing the dongle from your computer erase your stuff on MFP? it seemed to be the case...but then when I plugged it back in and went for a run, later on it the day the calories that were adjusted seemed to have come back.

Basically should I never remove the dongle from my computer because that'll mess with the syncing with MFP? or does it re-add the info once it's put back in?
