Excercise And Calories

Hello,
I'm 21 at the moment and trying to lose about 40-50 pounds. I've always thought that you need to eat less and exercise more, but recently I've heard the contrary. This site suggests that I eat 1980 calories every day to lose 2 pounds week. That is without exercise, but I play racquetball as well as lift weights and run in the morning. I guess my main question is, if I am working out that much and my suggested calorie intake increases, do I eat the full amount of calories that the site suggests? I would think that eating under the suggested calories would be best but I am unsure. Anyways thanks in advance for any advice!
