Emotional Cookers?

I have discovered I am not an emotional eater. I thought I might be, but nope, just doing ANYTHING but dealing with the person who making me seriously feel the need to invent a way to reach through the internets and slap them helps. I like food and gained my weight from a lifetime of purposely eating terribly and never exercising. I never made the time or effort before. It's my own fault,.

But I have found cooking or even chopping vegetables makes me feel better. Even if I'm not cooking for me. Even if I am cooking for me, it's easy to just take one portion and put the rest up. Part of it is my big, airy, huge windows that face south and west kitchen, I 'm sure. The rest I think is the same thing when I power clean to avoid blowing my stack.

Any other people here who cooking makes feel better, even if you don't actually eat what you cook when it's done?

I gave up emotional eating when I started back in January, and it's been interesting to see what wants to fill the void. I am cleaning a lot more, exercising more, and cooking more. Taking that energy and shoving it back out instead of letting it fester. It is nice when cooking does not feel like drudgery.

    Your kitchen sounds wonderful!

I cook as stress relief, for fun, because it makes me happy and satisfied. I'll come home after a monster day at the office and cook a 3 course meal to unwind.

I LOVE to bake goodies. I don't even eat them, just bake them and give them away. Sometimes the only thing that stops me spending the day in the kichen making cookies and cakes is the fact that I don't even want them, wouldn't eat them and it seems like throwing money away to just make them and give them away at work etc.

But yes, cooking makes me happy :)

I love to cook, but I'I think living vicarously by baking crap that I wouldn't eat and then dumping it on my co-workers is kind of cruel.

What I've done for years is once a week I bring in lunch. It's usually a crock pot soup, stew, or chili, and I always make sure it's something healthy that I can enjoy with my co-workers.

When I'm really stressed or frustrated, I like chopping vegetables in a violent fashion. Do I count as an "emotional cooker"?

LOL I think my finace's coworkers would have a different view, considering how many shameless requests for goodies he gets sent home with!

One of my friends is a total foodie who loves to bake. She stopped bringing in treats because 'everybody is always on a diet'. Then they started complaining, so she started bringing them again. Like us, she loves to bake and cook and experiment. She has linked me to some great sites,

I just baked and decorated mini cupcakes with my son. I had two, and now we are both happy and had some bonding. Hopefully, he will eat most of them, but they are small enough I can have one or two without too much issues.

But yay, good too know I'm not the only one!

Also, yes, my kitchen is fantastic. It's so open and has lots of counter space and my son and I can work together without tripping over each other. It's one of the reasons I love my apartment!

I love to cook for others. I can take the whole day to cook a Sunday roast and don't see it as a chore.

It's more passion than anything else really.. grew up watching Cooking shows and have a few chefs in the family.
Weirdly enough, I didn't pursue the career due to the long hours it demands and the stressful environment.

I love to cook. Now when I feel the need to bake I keep a small amount for us and send the rest to work with my husband or I take it in and put it in the break room at my workplace.

I make bread, and dog biscuits, unless its Christmas season and I bake all sorts of cookies. Problem with those is, I eat them too.
I enjoy cooking too, but baking is a lot more relaxed :-)
