Hey all,

I went in last week with some tummy pain and came out a week later from the hospital sans one gallbladder. They had to totally open me up too, not the laproscopic easy surgery, the 9" gash under my ribcage (there goes my dream of a perfect 6-pack)

They told me 3 weeks till I can start light jogging, 6 weeks till I can lift heavy.

Realistically, at 2-3 weeks you think I can start to jog and lift light? anyone have any experience? I can't wait 6 weeks to go back to the gym, I'll go nuts..

I suggest you to just listen to what they told you in the hospital.
I know it's hard, but I guess they know their *kitten*.

I had a hysterectomy a few years back, and I wasn't going to the gym, but 5 days later I was picking up my 30 pound kid. I mean, it wasn't a whole lot (like carrying her from the car to her bed on occasion). I wasn't supposed to do heavy lifting for 6 weeks. I wasn't supposed to lift anything for 2 weeks. It hurt like a mofo. I did it because I didn't have an option (well, I could've woken up the kid and risked her not going back to bed or waking up, and getting out of bed was more painful), but I was lucky that my incision didn't tear.

    I'd listen to the doctor.

I had a double hernia repair a while back.

I started jogging at two weeks and lifting at 4 weeks.

My advice however would be to follow your doctors instructions. It better then reinjuring yourself and having to take more time off.
