I have set my weight loss per week as the recommended 1lb. Just wanted to know what the others have set it to .

I have to totally lose 30lbs BUT I "need" to lose at least 15lbs before September for a surgery. I lost a lb in 2 weeks so am thinking whether to increase the recommended weight loss to 1 1/2lb a week.

What do you say? Pls adv me , thanks :)

  • I also set mine at 1 lb per week and I have about 53 in all (have lost 4.5 lbs) my daily calorie goal is 1350. I have manged to loose a little each week I have been on here (about 3 1/5 wks now). I do exercise though. Are you eating all your goal calories every day? Are you able to exercise? You have at least 12 weeks before September, I am sure you can do it as long as you count the calories consumed. I personally would not change my goal if you are able to exercise. It takes 3500 calories burned above what you consume to loose 1 pound in one week. MFP has already set your goal for one pound loss in the amount you are allowed to eat daily.

But if you do go all out exercising to up the weight loss, don't forget you need to eat back some of the calories burned for your own health.

    Good luck!

1lb although sometimes I alternate between that and 0.5lb a week as I am close to my target weight now (got 6lbs to go!)

Wow, sounds like you're doing great being so close to your target, that is fantastic....... I can't wait to get there myself, but at the same time, I guess I'm not in a hurry, I just want to make this way of eating and exercise a habit for the rest of my life

That's awesome, I don't think you have anything to worry about, you should get down that 15 before September without a problem.... and when your little ... ahhemm.... problem passes, you may find yourself instantly significantly lighter

If you need anymore encouragement along the way, feel free to add me.

2 lb/wk for the first 4 months and 1.5 lb/wk for the past 2 months. Will drop down to 1 lb/wk soon or take a break

I have it set to 2 a week, which is exactly how much I am losing now. Once I get closer to goal, I will change to 1 pound a week.

I think 1 lb. is perfect if its what you like. For many months I just lost .25 of a pound, and it still all came off!

just be careful not to undereat too much!

and yes... I had that little problem for one of the first times ever about 2 weeks ago. It was because I ate some steak I think - haven't wanted to touch red meat since then!

I think technically i'm set up for 0.6lb a week but some weeks I don't lose any and other weeks I lose over a pound.

I'm just patiently sticking to the plan until it all comes off. Nothing else I can do....

I like to set my weight loss per week at 1 lb. This would account for 4 lbs per month!  And when I lose more than one lb per week... it's a bonus!! 1lb is the line I want to cross first!!
