I have not tried it, but I've heard that it works wonderfully. I think I might look into it too.

You don't want to do dieter's tea, especially with IBS. Your digestive tract will get addicted to it, just like it can with Ex-lax and then it will only go when you take a laxative to make your muscles move.

The best thing is the natural thing.............magnesium supplement and more fluids, especially water. Constipation is mostly caused from lack of water in the bowels...........

Also, I have virtually cured my IBS symptoms simply by cutting out grains in my eating and upping my fat intake.

You may have a gluten intolerance, you may want to seek medical reference for a true diagnosis.

Great info! I'm gonna pass this along to a family member of mine who I have a feeling might have IBS and could use some relief!

I too suffer from IBS. When my stomac gets like that I usualy take about 2 ounces of aloe vera + castor oil at bed time and by the next morning I can go....if my stomac is still painfull then I take some more. It wont' be "EMERGENCY" type bathroom break but it will feel much better! Try to keep good flora in your intestinal tract as well to try to prevent these attacks. Pro-biotics always help too. Apply heat to you tummy...and try to stay away from caffeine and sugars....

Hope this helps. Feel better soon!!

I had blood work for gluten intolerance a couple of weeks ago and they said it was fine. I haven't tried the magnesium but I do drink at least 64 oz of water a day. How much magnesium do you take? Does it not cause cramping? The only reason I am even trying the Dieters Teas is because I am in so much PAIN!!!!!! Its awful!! It isn't working though so I have no need to keep using it.

I've had exactly the opposite needs, so be careful. I have to reduce my fat to next to nothing, other than healthy mufa's, and increase water and fiber, but remember, everyone is different. Symptoms can vary from person to person as can triggers.

My doctor wants me to do a month or so on Librax to stop the spasms. Then I can go back to treating with food. (Lately, Ive had trouble eating regularly. So I've really screwed up my system and made things worse.)

The medicine came with a warning that it should be stored in a secure place, away from anyone who may have a drug addiction. Also, I cannot operate a vehicle while taking this medicine. It has the same effects as xanex. It also can cause depression and suicidal thoughts.

Needless to say, I'm not really so comfortable trying it anymore. I took one this afternoon and feel totally stoned. Kinda cool  but not practical.

I have been having stomach issues too for 3 months now. I am to the point where I am seeing a specialist. He DEMANDED that I throw away my "Get Regular" Senna Tea that I have only used less than 12 times within the past 6 months. He believes THAT is why I have been suffering from constipation so badly. Even the tea doesn't make me go now and it used to work wonders.

Have you been diagnosed with IBS? If so, what does that doctor say about your current symptoms, and have you told him about your use of laxative tea? After the test that I am currently undergoing my doctor believes my remedy will be 2 full doses of Miralax per day and then 2 half doses of Magnesium Citrate per day on top of the Miralax until I become regular again. Those are different types of laxatives than the Senna tea. The Senna is absorbed and stimulates, while the Miralax and Magnesium Citrate simply move through, and are not absorbed. I would definitely make an appt, you don't want to go 3 months like this like I have and it already sounds like you're to the point where you're miserable!

Good luck and feel better! :flowerforyou:

Thank you so much for the kind thoughts!!! I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago but since I have been dieting it has gotten so much worse. I haven't told my dr. about the Tea because I just got it. I have only used it twice with no results whatsoever. So there is no point in me even drinking it anymore. Is Magnesium Citrate and Miralax over the counter products?

Yes, Magnesium Citrate is the same as Milk of Magnesia. Miralax is very similar and I believe it contains a fair amount of Magnesium in it also.........

My IBS symptoms actually varied where I would have explosive diahrrea one day and by the night fall be constipated.

I was speaking from someone who following a low fat diet was constipated all the time and got addicted to Ex-lax and the Senna Tea. That is not healthy. I had to wean myself off the "drugs" per say...........

I started eating a lot of bready products and pasta and then came the explosive diahrrea..............

The only thing that has "cured" my IBS symptoms either way is to get rid of ALL processed foods, eat plenty of proteins and fats, green veggies and limit my fruit intake also............

This eating has also help my diabetes tremendously too. I am merely speaking from my experiences.

The magnesium does NOT cause cramping...........the senna tea, on the other hand, will have you feeling like ripping your insides out of your boy...........

Do you have any sea salt? You could always do a warm sea salt flush as a laxative. It is also an all natural solution.

Meat is a BIG problem for me! I've been vegetarian most of my life. At times when I would eat meat, I would get horrible constipation. When I had a colonoscopy about 6 years ago, the doctor said my colon is longer than normal. It twists itself if 'm not careful. So he said because I get so constipated when I eat meat, I should really try to avoid it. It just isn't processing normally and with the extra length it has to travel, I'm only making the problem worse. Doesn't matter how much water I drink, and I drink alot. Doesn't even matter my fiber or fat intake. It just gets twisted and clogged...sorry for the visual. I get a pain in my lower right side that feels like appencicitis and have been to the ER 5 times, prepped for surgery once, but the surgeon decided at the last minute to leave it. Never had an actual infection. It just gets inflammed and irritated from the twisting because that is the part of my colon that is longer than normal.

I can tell with in hours of consuming meat that I'm in trouble. Yet, I've done it from time to time because I'm some sort of masochist. After I learned of all my food allergies, (including dairy and eggs, which I consumed daily. They turned out to be the cause of my migraines and constant nausea) I went vegan. It felt great! But with all the allergies, I have to cook fresh and shop fresh constantly. I got stressed out with school, bad luck finding a job, money was tight and I started slipping. (History of anorexia) All of a sudden I was verging on malnourishment. My protien, vit. D, B12, Folate, Calcium, and some other nutrients were as low as they cold be before it was officially deficient. So I ate chicken. Seemed like the right thing to do in theory, but it was not.

Anyway, my point is, I totally get what you mean about meat.

As for magnesium, I strongly believe that it is best to purchase supplements from a health food store or really research the companies that sell in drug stores. I prefer health food stores like Better Health, because they can tell you what fillers and other ingredients may have been used. You will also get a better quality from a health food store because that is the business they are in.

When I started taking magnesium, I started on a low dose and gently increased it. Some people can get gassy from it, so a gentle increase helps avoid stinky situations, lol. Actually, it tends to be the cheaper lower quality supplements that cause excess gas. So just be aware. (It doesn't happen to everyone, but my doctor said some are more sensitive than others)

Before I started low carb living, I had a plethoria of issues............bi-polar, depression, PCOS, diabetes, thyroid issues, IBS, etc........
