For the functioning alcoholics...

I exercise like a mad woman all week and I drink what I want when I want.. works for me :~) Also not on a diet.. just changing my eating habits so I can improve my life.
Eat healthier = be healthier.
Plus.. nothing is "forbidden" if i'm not on a diet and an occasional cupcake doesn't guilt trip me or ruin my whole week. I also really love to exercise.. so doing as much as I do doesn't faze me.0 -
This is what i do also! Clear drinks vodka, gin, etc have the lowest calories. I used to drink beer all the time and now I just do water with lemon, sparkling water or the flavored drop stuff with water or crystal light. Don't do the cranberry juice or orange juice wayyy to much sugar and calories. Cheers :drinker:0

I actually have trouble drinking too much, and I thought this thread was going to be for people like me who live normal lives but struggle with a tendency to overdo it on a regular basis. Instead, I read about what sounds like highly responsible drinking. Oh well...
Totally agree and I know there are more of us - most of my social circle to start. I've seen this topic on here before and it always goes pretty much the same way. I'd like to hear how bigger drinkers manage it. I usually manage to get in a lifting session before a night out (because I know I won't be getting one in the next day) and I eat a little over TDEE on lifting days anyway. I might be getting more calories but is using them for alcohol defeating the purpose??0 -

I think you need to look up what it means to be a alcoholic (functioning or otherwise), and be more careful about throwing that word around.

I work them into my calories too. I usually drink three days a week 2-3 drinks per occasion. On those days I usually have my awesome MFP friends upset with me not because I go over on calories but because I am way under in nutrition. I am young and we live in a drinking town with a fishing problem, so we go out on our days off a lot. With that said, I try to eat more nutritious things on my work days when I dont drink. I also take vitamins to make up for lacking nutrients.

I agree with this.
It isn't something to joke about. And yeah, I'm one of those hardcore, blackout every night, falling down, swigging at 6 am to ward off the shakes, drug addicted, drunks so I got my back up.
In recovery since July 2, 2012
Congratulations! Way to go!0
