Stress causing weight gain?

I've heard that stress can cause weight loss, but could it also cause weight gain?
I am currently on a 1350cal a day plan, but I've changed it many times over the last few months and nothing has helped me to be able to lose weight.
I've been under a TON of stress, and been down right depressed the past couple weeks and I hadn't been losing weight (been stuck since nov 2012). This morning I weighed myself; I've gained some weight, about 3lbs in the last week, which is when the stress has been the worst.
Its not that I have been eating over my goal, because I haven't...I haven't been exercising like i should, either.
(I have not consumed over 2500mg sodium any day during this time frame)

I'm saying from my personal experience yes it can. I have been really stressed lately and didn't lose anything for over a month (not as long as you but irritating all the same) and ended up gaining 4 lbs. But now that the stress i had is pretty much gone i have lost those 4 lbs plus some. I would suggest trying to get rid of some of your stress. Or maybe try some different exercises or Do something to relax you0

Yes. Although I'm sure stress affects people differently, I gain weight also, even if I workout and eat a better diet. I take a few days to just runaway from it all to de-stress. Yoga helps me, even a long train ride sometimes, something to just distract me from the madness of the world. I'm not worried at all because I know neither of the two is permanent.0

Well the scientists say that we naturally store fat in stressful situations, stemming back from when food was scarce.0
