"I'm TOTALLY on my diet!" "I'm TOTALLY off my diet!"

This polarized attitude sinks many a ship because of it sets the stage for failure. Dogmatic dieting does damage! So do you eat a small slice of your son's birthday cake or your daughter's school baking project and live somewhat of a normal life or do you decline to stay on your diet NO MATTER WHAT the consequences and why?
