Is dieting and excersize enough?

I've been yoyo dieting for a while and finally comitted myself to getting this going.

I hear all about Ketogenic diet, South beach diet, Weight watchers, blah, blah, blah. They may work and I can understand that they may work for some, if not many people.
But I perfer the just eat healthy, cut back calories, and work out thing.

I eat about 1,600 calories a day, do yoga daily, and have 50-60 minute work out routine every other day.

I feel like with everything out there now can that be enough?
Its only been a week and I haven't lost any weight what so ever, which doesn't suprise me, but will I be able to lose any weight at all just being healthier?

When you understand the numbers behind weight loss, you'll be able to answer your own question.

    3500 calories = 1 pound.
You burn x amount of calories just by existing every day.
You should create a deficit in calories, and you will lose pounds.
You can create this deficit with changes to your eating habits, by exercising, or both.

Yes. It's enough. Everything out there, the pills...the gimmicks...none of it comes close to hard work, determination and a positive life change-not diet. :]

Sounds like a great routine to me if you're eating back your exercise cals

Is this a trick question? I think for the vast majority of people changes in their diet to incorporate more vegetables and to cut out white carbs and an increase in exercise yeah that would be enough. A modest cut in calories plus adding some exercise will result in weight loss. It won't be fast especially if the person in question is close to their ideal weight. But, some people have a whole lot of health issues and should be under the supervision of a doctor/nutritionist to make changes for their health and to insure that they stay on course to lose weight.

Stick with what you're doing. You're young and I'm sure your metabolism is improving with a healthy diet and exercise.

It depends on your weight, age etc. I don't know how many calories yoga burns but I'm guessing it's not many, so if you're close to goal 1600 might be too much.
