Quick pain right side of chest above breast

First before I begin I am NOT looking for medical advice, I was not overly concerned when it happened but as the hours go by and I analyze my day (as I do all the time!)..it kind of got me thinking and slightly worried.
Doctors is closed so I am kind of looking for some ideas of what it may be and I am all set with googling it...I will give myself an anxiety attack with the first page LOL
I have been working mostly cardio for several weeks - 5 days per week - usually no more than 40 minutes per day. Zumba mostly. One day a week I will do something else (30d shred level one, hip hop abs cardio etc.)
Today I increased my Zumba - different workout..was definitely more intense. Faster moves, more moves. Resting heart rate is low 70's and during my workout my heart rate has not seem to of gone beyond 155 including today. The workout was a total of 60 minutes compared to my usual 30 to 40 minutes.
Half way through (heart rate low 150s) I got a sharp pain in the right side of my chest, just above my breast (kind of like right behind the top of it) I stopped what i was doing for a minute - drank some water. Almost as soon as I stopped moving it went away. I continued keeping an eye on my heart rate and lowering my intensity a little. No more issues then nor up to now as I type.
Has anyone experienced this? I will note this to my doctor but I just kind of need to hear some "what ifs" I guess until i can talk to them tomorrow. i know they will give me the usual.."we need to see you" without giving me the "what ifs".
{Just to add if this helps the answers: I am 37 - no serious medical issues to this point - last blood work was beautiful (and should be even prettier now with new healthy habits) - heart attacks are not common at all in my family. There have however been a couple strokes (grandparents)} Prior to January 1st 2013 - I have not been a big work out person. Since this date I have slowly increased my workouts and intensity. I started out simply walking - then fast paced walking, longer etc - then straight cardio dvds such as Zumba.

Aside from the whole, "call 911 in case of chest pain" thing.... Did you eat anything prior that could have caused reflux?
A few months ago, I ended up in the EC (via ambulance following a 911 call) because of chest pain. Every test came back beautiful. I didn't even consider it at the time, but I had a glass of orange juice about an hour before (I never drink OJ). The doctors said it was reflux, which can come on quickly and have similar symptoms to chest pain.
But seriously, don't take chest pain lightly. I was very mortified that I could have taken two tums instead of an ambulance ride, until my PCP told me that the week earlier he had a patient with similar symptoms think she had reflux and needed a stent instead......
Good luck -0 -
Never be embarrased for going to the ER. Better safe than sorry is a true statement! I went and was in AFib. Easily fixed in my case with fluids.
Now there have been 2 times I got that kid of pain. Once from reflux, which was horrible! felt like a knife going over the right side of my chest. Gone as fast as it came.
The other time it had to do with my shoulder. I had pinched something after lifting my arm, crossing it over, and bringing it down. Dang.....whew, that hurt........Also believe it or not if you twist your thoracic spine (center part) it can create chest pain.
zumba does a lot of hippy twisty moves, maybe you pinched a TSpine nerve.
I would see the doctor if it were me. :flowerforyou:0 -
I have hear about the reflux, but I would think that pain would be closer to my esophagus. The pain I hard (fast - sharp) was further right. Trying to remember now is hard - and I cant remember if it felt like it was in my breast or in the chest wall. It happened so fast - but it was no doubt above my right breast and no where near the middle of my chest.
I do not usually eat breakfast before work out and I did about 2 hours or so before - just egg whites and English muffin. Nothing I have not had before and I am sure I have at least once had it for breakfast before a workout.0 -

haha ohhhh I have pulled muscles I never knew were there and did end up in the ER - I pulled a muscle in my chest a few years ago playing wii kick boxing (seriously a video game?!?!) LOL..My chest (left side) hurt BAD and I could not breathe for days. I went the very first day! I am prone to pulling muscles - from chest, legs, arms, back etc. ALL from playing wii or exercising so it would not surprise me in the least if this is the case here. There is absolutely NO pain now nor after which is why a pulled muscle would not come to mind. I was lifting small children, closing play pens, cooked dinner etc etc all afterwards with no issues which is why I was not alarmed...but then as I relaxed my mind started to wander and got me a little nervous about it. I at first simply thought I was pushing too hard0 -

You would think, but the time I had the chest pain it was on the right, and radiated from the center of my chest out and up to my shoulder. Scared the crap out of me!. My friend has reflux after asking a few questions said that was prob it-gave me some tums to chew. If it went away then viola. It HURT-holy cow I was sure I was dieing! Went away with in minutes of swallowing the tums. The nerves in our bodies run by all types of things. In around under over.
Anyway at 51 I have had pains all over my body  Hope you are doing well!0 -
Amazing how the body works
Usually in an annoying way LOL
Yes I am great now. (thank you for asking!!)
.turns out I was one move away from fully pulling a muscleMy chest up to my shoulder down to my shoulder blade was sore the entire next day. Gave me the answer before I had a chance to call the doctor. Thankfully i lowered my intensity or I would of completely pulled it and been out of commission for a week or longer!

If the pain goes away by tomorrow, or lessens, then it most likely was a pinched nerve. I've done that doing Zumba. I've also hurt my knee so badly I could barely walk. I was back at it 3 weeks later.
If it doesn't go away after a few days, OR begins again when you exercise, SEE A DOCTOR.
OOPS, never mind.0 -
