Does anyone know a good workout for the lower abs...?

Hi everyone, I'm Alex :) I'm pretty new to this site and I have to say so far I love it, it lets me visualize and actually think about what I'm eating. Also if I see those calories with red writing and a " - " symbol I immediately want to work out. Speaking of working out I do have a question...I'm a mom (I have a 2 1/2 year old) and of course like most moms I have that lower abdomen excess fat that's extremely hard to get rid of.... (with good reason)... considering that the reason it's there is really for storage of vitamins, minerals and nutrients for the baby 1st and the mother 2nd just in case of hard times.. (learned that in nursing school)... anyway.. So I know there's a reason for it being there but uh... I'm only 22... I'd like to be able to wear some jeans without having to pull them up all the way to cover / smooth out that fat ....or get jeans that make me look like i have no derriere' just so they fit nicely on top of the fat.... (you know what I mean??)...I've been doing alot of sit-ups and crossover sit ups and things like that ... but I only feel it's working for my upper abs and only in the middle ( i feel all the burn there but absolutely nothing in my lower abs)... So does anyone know any specific exercises I can do to get some muscle in that area? or just anything that i can do at all? :?

Well you can't spot reduce but...Pilates and barre classes have both helped my lower abs immensely :)

Well I'm going to say the exact same thing as the prior poster. Pilates is great for the core and many of their excercises hit the lower abs. AND you can't spot reduce. Keep losing fat and your waist will go down. But if your waist is your most stubborn area it will be the last to go. Mine was but after over 60 pounds I'm still not where I want to be but I've gone from a 44" slacks to 34" so it's WAY better! :)

Keep working, be patient and you'll get where you want to be!

Bicycle and reverse crunches tend to target that area, but everyone else is right. You will still need to reduce overall body fat to really see a difference.

Reverse crunches! Lay flat on the ground. Put your legs up and have your toes point towards the ceiling (make a 90 degree angle)
Now lift your butt and aim your pointed toes to the ceiling. 3 sets of 15 should help a bit
