Are you going over your carb intake? If not your fine.. Natural sugars are good especially cause of the micro nutrient factor in them

unless you have a medical reason to worry about sugar then it matters not.

It's not even important if you go over your carb intake (as long as you DON'T watch macros). All that counts is your calorie intake, no matter where it comes from. :)

Don't panic over fruit sugar - it's all good as long as it's natural sugar. And MFP sets a really low sugar goal, anyways.

I was in the same boat...decided to hide my sugar intake from my viewable diary just so I wasn't driving myself insane.

I see your target for sugar is 24g - you can easily up it to 40-50.
But as dupaboo said - if you know your sugar sources are natural you can just hide it; that's what I did, too.

    Same Here!

Edit: Just wanted to add ......I try to stay away from added sugar and I decided to give up Splenda.

It doesn't really matter unless you have a medical reason. Besides, the sugar they count is both natural and refined. What is important is the refined sugar. So maybe subtract your natural sugars from your total (i.e. those from fruit and veggies) and then THAT would be your refined sugar intake. And it doesn't really matter anyway unless you have a preexisting condition that is averse to it. But if you really want to know, just for personal reasons, what I said above will give you a good estimate.

Glad I just stumbled across this thread because I was just going to post the same thing!! Don't want to steal the thread, but am hoping some one can share some advice shared will be helpful to the OP as well.

I'm not doing "Paleo" "Low Carb" or any other specific diet, but I've read up on them enough to get the importance of not eating too much sugar... and that fruit = sugar. That said, I can't bear the thought of not eating fruit! I eat about 90% clean. Goal Macros: 30 P, 30, F, 40 C. My stats are set to 1,200 because I literally don't move from my PC all day, but I do eat back a lot of my exercise calories. Despite having a consistent deficient of more than 500 a day, I'm not losing very quickly. Stats: Start weight (Jan) - 163. Current (156) Goal (145).... Height 5'8. I'm a female. I work out hard 5-6 xs a week (combo strength & cardio)

The fact that I'm far exceeding my sugar limits (by about 25/day) is pretty concerning and I'm afraid it's slowing down fat loss. As a general rule, most of my sugar content comes from fruit, raw honey, and a little dairy, and SO Delicious creamer/ ice cream as a treat. There are a lot of folks out there that think it's all about the calories in/ calories out....and a lot of folks who think if you're eating the right things that you don't need to count. Personally, I need to count because I could house a bag of raw almonds and would blow up like a balloon! But I think that the what you put into your body matters (clean, real food, not a lot of sugar....) to your body composition, skin, hair, nails, happiness, etc.

But back to the topic at hand. Does anyone keep in the sugar goal without eliminating a food group??? Any suggestions on how to do so? If not, what's a better target? I don't want to eliminate fruit but am wondering if I need to cut it back to one piece a day.... Thanks!
