yesterday I had my first session with a personal trainer. my friend and i are both on this journey but coming from completely different places in life. But we have vowed to do this together. We live a bit a ways apart and hence belong to different gyms. we found a personal trainer that has a small in home gym half way between us. We both know the benefit of personal trainers and also the benefit of working out together. I cannot really afford a trainer at my gym for the long term ($85 a session), so this was perfect.
While i was filling out the paperwork prior to my session i noticed the date, it had been exactly one month since I last weighed myself. I haven't weighed myself in that time because I have dropped in motivation. I was going to be happy with my weight being the same but expected it to be higher. Imagine my surprise that I had lost 3.5 pounds! That was a great way to start the day.
I really like my trainer, he isn't a drill sergent and is (rightfully) more cautious about my knees than I am, which is a good thing. I was a little disappointed in just how weak I have become.
today my shoulders and my abs are a little sore, the first time in many years i had sore muscles! I cannot wait till next week when we meet again! now back to the gym!

That's awesome! I think having a personal trainer or fitness coach is like getting 1 1/2 times the workout in just 1 workout. You can push yourself a bit harder and more safely, and have fewer distractions.

Keep up the great work! And to more good ouches!
