I need a protein for dummies conversation. I looked at my protein intake for the last 90 days and it hovers around 50-60 grams average a day. I know I should be much higher than that based on the things I have read here on MFP. I have been on this journey since July 2012, and have lost at least 65 pounds. I am currently on a 30 day challenge with myself and haven't been on the scale in 3 weeks. I have hit a pretty long plateau and am looking for ways to improve what i have been doing. Upping my protein is one. Eggs and I do not get along. I'm too chicken to try just egg whites to see if those woud bother me, but it is a possibilty my reaction is just to the yolk. What other forms of protein snacks would be good for me to plan on each day. I haven't ever tried protein powder so recommendations on those would be great as I eat oatmeal (old fashioned) each day and could add it to my oatmeal for additional protein.
I appreciate your help!

Are you allergic to eggs? One thing I do like to do with my oatmeal is once it's done cooking, and I've added in my fruit, sweetener, etc., is to add in 1 or 2 egg whites and beat them in really, really well. This fluffs up the oatmeal considerably, and gives you a protein kick. But, if the whites might bother you, that would be out. I also like to add in some plain Greek yogurt to my oatmeal to bulk it up a bit.
I like the cheap-o Body Fortress Whey Protein sold at Meijer well enough. I m currently using Dymatize ISO-100 in Pina Colada which is delicious. It's fairly pricey, though, I found it on sale for a good price at bodybuilding.com.
I typically eat a lot of protein. I use a lot of egg whites, but also low fat cottage cheese, low fat (not nonfat, usually) Greek yogurt, sometimes Carbmaster or light Yoplait yogurt as well, lunch meats, chicken, ground turkey, extra lean ground beef & turkey sausages/meatballs. Beans are another great source of protein. Also some veggies have more protein than others, so try to use those as your main veggie sources.0
