Hello- I'm in college, too, and I understand the need for cheaper, yet delicious, sometimes on the go foods...
I'm primarily sticking to 4 S's of smoothies, soups, sandwiches, and salads.
I drink either a whole or half Bolthouse farm smoothie (~130) in the morning to kickstart my metabolism. If I'm hungrier, Special K cereal (110) with Vanilla Almond Milk (45) and a banana (90) or strawberries, and honey- it's delicious.
Salads are very low calorie if you choose a light dressing; veggies add up minimally, and you can fill up on a big salad that's loaded with healthy toppings. Salads also flush out your system.
Sandwiches are great for college 'cause you can bring those to class instead of buying food or wasting study time in between. Add an apple to your to-go pack and you've got yourself a great meal. I saw a recommendation that whole grain breads are bad for weight loss, but I still like them for all the fiber and extra nutrients they pack.
I love campbell's soups- they range from 80-190 calories depending on what you choose and they're filling, just $2.28/can.
All these foods coordinate well together and have enough elements and different flavors that you won't get bored with eating it; you can stuff your stomach with 100 calories if you eat half a can of soup and a big salad for lunch, for example.0 -
