Thoughts on P90X

I am thinking to start P90X and was wondering who's done it and what they thought of it, were your results through the roof amazing? Or should I try something else, if so any suggestion. I am wanting to get stronger and gain muscle mass.

    Hi there

P90X delivers results if you're willing to put in the effort. It's been a life changer for me. Add me if you have any questions. I'm a BeachBody coach and I love to help people succeed.

Here's a link to my journey (its still continuing though lol)

I have completed p90x original several times. When I began it the first time, it was when I had realized I was getting overweight and needed to do something about it before it got out of hand. I had always been relatively healthy, but never super fit. The first time I did p90x I went hardcore - I told myself I could do anything for 90 days! I religiously followed the diet and workout plans, making bubble sheets to check off the number of servings of each type of food for the portion plan. If I couldn't work out one day, I would double up the next. Now that sounds really extreme, but I'm a 5'4 petite woman and I lost 15 pounds in 3 months - all while eating approx 1800 cal/day. I then lost 5 more pounds afterward - going from approx 150 to 130lbs. The best part about the p90x diet plan is that I was never hungry. Since that first round, I've relaxed my training a little (or a lot depending on how busy life gets). I've maintained my weight loss for 3 years now. I'm currently doing a p90X/p90x2 hybrid workout, but I don't work out every day and I use myfitnesspal to track calories in/out. I don't stress too much about going over though.

So my point is - I highly recommend P90X!

I had been working out regularly for 15+ years before doing P90X the first time. I am tall and small boned, so a long, thin muscle structure and I have never been able to make any bulk muscle gains even when I have been able to make great strength gains. I found P90X to be fantastic. Very challenging, which is not something I find very often in a fitness program. Mostly fun, some workouts are more tedious than others and they are all pretty boring by week 13 (what isn't?). Results, definitely! I didn't go from a blob to an adonis like some of the before/after pictures, but I wasn't a blob to start with I was already a healthy weight and working out 3x a day. And I'm not bulky because I'm just not designed to ever really get bulky. However, I have definitely gained muscle, particularly in the upper body which is an area that I have struggled with more than most. I have little mini-popeye forearms and bigger biceps and there's all this stuff moving under the skin in my back and I can't even begin to identiy the muscle groups involved. It is definitely worth the time and effort to do the program. If you follow the directions and you make those last 3 reps a struggle on every set then you can't possibly fail to achieve results!

I'm only 60 days in the program and I already like the results I am seeing. I've always been thin and it's not easy for me to gain muscle but now I am seeing some good definition. My goal is not to lose any weight and try to gain muscle, but that's not easy when I am also running several times a week. So while my muscle gains have been small, my body fat has dropped which allows the muscles to show up better. I don't follow the diet plan exactly, just try to meet the macros as close as possible. And I only do the three strength training routines every week. I substitute running instead of plyo, yoga, and kenpo.

P90X was my first BB Program and I loved it. I got some really good results from it and decided I was going to try another program, but will definitely go back to it. Have fun with it.

I'm a computer consultant, so I sit at the computer 12-14 hrs per day and I travel a lot, so I eat out a lot. I had gone about 15 yrs without any real exercise before I started the program. I stuck to it, did the ab ripper 3 times / week, did the stretch on Sundays, and I also used the food plan. I went from 205 - 175 in the 1st 90 days and I lost another 10 lbs the next 90 days.
I cannot believe the shape I'm in from working out in my basement. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this program.

I have to say P90X is a very well put together rutine and it will give you result if you stick with it. Good luck.

My boyfriend and I did P90x when he was ready to re-enlist in the Army and it was fabulous! It was really, really hard that first week, but it got better as time went on. When we finally got to day 90, we felt so fit! We're ready to start again and are currently figuring out the best time of day and day of the week to start so we get our "rest day" in at the right time. I'm totally pumped about it!

P90X works in terms of improving overall physical conditioning and strength. Especially when ditching the elastic bands and doing actual pull-ups, for example. I did P90X about five years ago before moving onto a more rigorous strength training program involving progressive overloading (which is likely what some of the more muscular fitness models in the videos actually do in order to look the way they do).

Well you guys have me convinced to give it a try, sounds like most of you got awesome results!
I did P90X for ten days and loved the workout but then I went on vacations and haven't started back up since I got home, but I hope to start again at the end of the month. How closely did you all follow the diet plan?
