How young for c25k?

Just wondering at what age can you introduce distance running to kids? My kids (ages 4 and almost 7) are always asking to go for runs with me. I was thinking about doing the first few weeks of c25k with my older one to see how he liked it, but is he too young?

At my running group races, they have a 'Kids K'; about 6/10s of a mile. My 5 year old daughter runs the thing pretty well. She doesn't run often but she can get the 1K done pretty good and I think if she'd slow down a bit could easily do more. Just don't make/let him go as fast he can all the time and he'll like it. He'd probably love a good nature trail hike as well.0

I have actually Googled this before when a friend on another forum asked! If you Google "running for kids", you should get some links to some good articles.
Here's a couple of links to start with:

I found this which is more directed at older kids but may be of interest...
