Xbox Kinect

Well, I think I have found something that will keep me entertained and will still be a work out. I've tried Jillian Michaels and just couldn't get into it. I'm a gamer so I figured something that would hold my interest would be the Kinect. I ordered Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 which should arrive tomorrow. Does anyone else work out with the Kinect? If so, have you liked it and been able to stick with it?

I have been using the Nike+ Personal Trainer on Kinect since January 1st. Now that it is nice out I plan on only using it twice a week and getting outside finally!!!0

Yep! I'm using Nike+Kinect for weight training and have been using it for months. There have been some small frustrations - Kinect does not always see me properly for unknown reasons, so for some exercises, it can't track my moves, but for the majority, it's fine. The workout has definitely made a big difference in my physique, and it continues to challenge me (I recently bumped up from "hard" to "intense" mode, and whoa, it's tough!). You're welcome to add me - I'd love to hear from others using Kinect.0

My wife and I love using the Kinect with our Xbox 360. We do not do the "workout" games, but rather just play games like Dance Central, Fruit Ninja, or the various sports games. That way we can actually enjoy "working out" without feeling like we are.0

I use the Kinect for Zumba. I have a bunch of games for my kids to keep them moving. They have Dance Central and Star Wars as well as some of the sports. I love it!0

The only way I can work out is via video games LOL. I do the fitness evol 2012 and LOVE it. I normally do the easiest boot camp one, afriacan dancing, easiest boot camp two, 30 minutes of boxing, and then random things that are about 5 minutes long. Just dance is another way to get a nice little burn going on. I don't burn as much as I do in fit evol but some days I want to do something fun and silly. Those are the only two I really use for work out with the kinect. I also do Dance Dance Revolution which is where I burn most my calories.
Who said working out had to be something you hated?!0 -
Oh thank you all so much! I feel more confident about my decision. I walk on the treadmill for 45 mins in the morning and 45 mins at night after work and full timing being a wife and mom. The last thing I want after all of that is Jillian telling me I can't have a break. Lol. I just bought a Kinect yesterday and it came with Kinect Adventures. My husband and I played it and had a blast. This morning he said that his legs were sore. All we did was play a game and it was great. I was attracted to the Fitness Evolved because it tracks calorie burn and you can actually target certain areas you want to work on. However, I am now looking forward to getting the dancing games and such. Thanks again! Feel free to add me as well.0

I like YourShape, it's pretty fun. When it arrives try the 'wallbreaker', that's my fav. I don't use it too often because I'm not big on gaming, but I like that it cheers for you and calls you back if you go away.0

Thanks for the recommendation! I can't wait for it to get here tomorrow. I'm excited to get started.0

Right now I'm writing for a site, so I'm testing all sorts of stuff and Your Shape FE 2012 is pretty good. I think it's a great step before something like Nike + Kinect Training. And there are non-trainer games like Zumba, Dance Central, etc. Heck, I even made a fitness routine with Fruit Ninja Kinect + 3 Point Contest.
You can get a super workout from these games and IMHO, the Xbox with Kinect is the best setup right now by far. It really is the gold standard.
Have a blast!0 -
We have a Kinect and over Christmas break I did and workout game. I really liked it, but around the same time I started going to the gym a few days a week and haven't needed to try and workout at home. It is a great workout to try! Have Fun!0
