Vegetarians, what are your protein intakes?

Well, I consider myself a "dairytarian" but I'm currently on a vegan challenge and have committed myself not to eat meat for 30 days. My husband is a full-time vegan. Maybe I am clueless, but I really don't keep track of "30% this" or "40% that". I just eat clean foods, and hope that I will meet my "goals" on myfitnesspal. For protein I am getting around 60 grams per day, and I don't do any protein powders or supplements or soy frankenfood. My husband, back when he logged, would get around 80 grams per day.0

OP I very highly recommend you read "The Food Revolution" by John Robbins. He debunks the high carbohydrate intake myths and many other myths. When you consume a high amount of carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables they don't metabolize instantly like processed sugar or white bread would because they contain a lot of fiber. so the sugars are not released instantly and your pancreas doesn't have to overwork. Consuming a high amount if processed carbs does the opposite which gets your pancreas tired and can cause it to stop producing insulin in the long run and that is called type 1 diabetes. I suck at explaining things but I'm pretty sure if you read the first chapter you won't put it down.0

soy frankenfood
That's exactly what it is! The only one we buy is a GF hotdog that's also GMO free, and a package might stay in our freezer for a couple of months before we even open it.0 -
I am vegan and I get ~150g of plant-based protein per day.0

I think you are pretty close to the truth, Abraham. I've also heard that high fat in the diet can be a trigger for diabetes (and considering the high rate of diabetes among Mexicans, that makes sense).
I am very interested in the book. I can get it for $10 on Amazon for Kindle. I'll have to do that sometime. It's not in the budget right now, but I'm going to add it to my wishlist anyhow!0
