Paltrow wins most beautiful woman and I say.. Hurray! I think she's deserving of a commendation.
When someone wins an award or commendation, you comment.. "Congratulations, Great job! I'm happy for you!"
ANYTHING short of that comes off as CRITICAL, full of JEALOUSY and SPITE!
Tsk tsk Palmeri.. shame on YOU!

Okay, I did a little research on this out of a mixture of light intoxication and a generic boredom. I think the first problem with this topic, and perhaps a reason that you haven't gotten a lot of feedback, is that you've staged Gwen Paltrow against Tara Palmeri, a beat writer for the New York Post that no one has heard of.
With this context, my first thought is this: Why did you consider anything from the NYP to be relevant in a person's daily life?
But hey, I humored you and read the article. And you know what? When you single someone out in any superlative fashion, as People did, there are going to be a fair share of dissenters. Bully for her that she can spend $450,000 on 'spring essential' clothing, but I do not disagree that a fair portion of her 'sexiness' comes from her ability to take care of herself.
Does that make a person jealous and spiteful? Maybe jealous, but probably not spiteful. Maybe a more productive article for Ms. Palmeri would be to list a few candidates that she might have voted for, and reasons that these people deserved the position.
Let's not forget that 'sexiness' is relative to the beholder. So People may be all about Paltrow, but you know who else is? People magazine's targeted demographic. I am sure Weird Hipster and Mustache Aficionado Quarterly would tell you that it is not Paltrow, but actually Aubrey Plaza who is the 'sexiest' woman. I'd disagree with that one too.
I almost feel bad posting this response, not for lambasting your topic, but for the fact that it will be bumped to the top of the forum.
All things being equal, ratings lists like 'sexiest' in the world are drivel.0 -

Totally agree with DrBenton. Sexiness and beauty are all relative. Gweneth Paltrow may be the most beautiful woman in the world according to the readers of people magazine (I assume it's the readers who voted), but others will obviously disagree. One thing people don't understand is that celebrities are public figures and as such everyone will always have an opinion about them, whatever it may be. And opinions will differ, and people need to accept that. Some people agree that Gweneth is the most beautiful woman in the world, while others (like myself) disagree. We're not denying that she is beautiful, just that she's not the most beautiful. Another thing is also our habit of immediately accepting something as fact because some fashion or entertainment magazine says so. We tend to forget that these publications represent people's opinions and it should be noted that when a celebrity is voted as the most beautiful woman in the world or sexiest man alive it shouldn't be taken as a fact, but simply as someone's opinion.0 -
Lists of anything are usually b*llocks.
Booker prize shortlist?
Top 40 Singles?
Box office Top 10?
World's sexiest men/women?
According to whom? Because the largest number of people say so? Because a self-appointed arbiter of taste says so? Or a committee decides it?
Who really cares what some random journalist you've never heard of thinks of someone who's a walking product placement? It's just one more meaningless opinion about one more meaningless celebrity. I mourn the days when Einstein was famous for a reason.....0 -
You're right on the money Jimmmer. One phrase you used couldn't have put it better. "According to whom?" And you're certainly right. It's so sad that gone are those days when people were actually famous because they deserved to be famous. Nowadays all you need to be famous is just to look good in a swimsuit or make a sex tape and splash it all over the internet.0

Its all relative. The world is full of people and not one person can make everybody happy all of the time. I think a list of the writers preferred choices is a brilliant resp once but in the end she was merely stating her opinion. Granted an example of what fits her opinion would've been an added bonus. I didn't read too much into the article, I could care less what any magazine has to say about who makes the 'sexy' list.0
