Ok... so, to stay on the subject at hand....

I have the fatty deposits on the inside of my knees. But, I also have a severe knee injury, keeping me from doing squats or anything overly strenuous. Are there any other leg exercises to help tone that up?

    How about swimming?

I would love to (and love doing it!), but my gym doesn't have one, and I can't afford a second membership just for swimming :(

Well, in addition to chubby knees (in proportion to the rest of me) and having "this-is-what-I-remember-my-mother's-knees-looking-like-when-she-was middle-aged" thoughts, I've also found out that my right knee is actually almost a full inch bigger in circumference than my left knee----so WOO-HOO! Chubby knees AND they're lop-sided! :drinker:

Somehow, back when I was in my 20's and dancing in clubs 5 nights a week and pivoting on my right leg, I assumed that when I was 40, I would have pain in that knee, NOT that it would increase in size. And no, I am afraid it is not muscle. Unless the muscle I built 20 years ago is bionic.

At least now if someone is taking a full pic of me, I know which side to face the camera when I'm in shorts or a dress.

I understand. Have fat knees too.

    A) You obviously don't know what the word fat means
    B) stop trying to make everything about you

I like you more and more.

If this is serious, I think you need to see a psychiatrist and work out some of the issues you seem to have with yourself and your body.

Although I think that you're dead on that she's not seeing herself for the beautiful person that she is, most people won't just hoof off to a shrink when called out on a message board.

I see some ladies here who are obviously dangerously thin and seemingly unaware of it.

Here's my 2 cents. I've been a lot thinner in my life and I always felt I was fat. I wasn't. When I really did get fat, I still had a skewed self image that actually saw myself as not as bad as I really am.

I have a distorted body image in my head. So do a lot of other men and women. It's good we are here to be supportive.

Hugs to you, beautiful girl with the non fat knees! Love yourself.

Thanks love, I need no p-doc. I DO love myself, and my body for what I can do with it. Not dangerously thin, I've been the same weight since graduating high school. Quite healthy. :)

And "stop trying to make everything about me"? It's my choice to be here, I only listen to what might apply to or affect ME. So yes, it is about me. :)

When one of you can do pullups and chinups and handstands and master the monkey bars, let me know. Until then, bye!

    * editing to add, my knowledge is passed on to others, through my nonprofit yoga school. I teach the elderly how to lift their hands over their heads and so on... do you?

No, I teach adults how to do math. So they can get jobs and function in society for the next 40-60 years, help their children learn, achieve better employment, access healthcare, manage their finances, that kind of thing. I can also do handstands, cartwheels and handsprings, when not using monkey bars. The splits, too. But I never thought as that as being something to brag about.

But I can still tell the difference between fat knees and ones that aren't. So why claim yours are fat if you haven't got a skewed image of yourself?

I know exactly what I look like. No skewed image. I just like being/looking the best I can. :)
