BodyMedia Question

Goof Afternoon!!!
I have a bodymedia and I love it, however when I link it up to MFP it enters in "exercise calories" onto my plan. I was not sure if I should be eating those calories (even if I didn't really workout and it was more just my steps taken).

I have a bodymedia also. I believe this takes into account what the band has measured as what you've burned through normal activity. I don't know when you sync yours, but I do mine first thing in the morning. Usually what it says I've already burned through sleep is the same number as the "excercise calories" and then it adjusts as I work out throughout the day. I usually eat a portion of these back. Watch your "net" on the homepage. If it's low and it says you've earned "xxx from exercise" eat some of it back.0

The way I understand it is this:
MFP has a guesstimate on your TDEE based on your choice of activity level, and gives you a calorie goal based on that. When you sync your bodymedia, and you are on track to burning more than that, it will add exercise calories. If you update multiple times a day, this value will change.
I don't sync mine until evenings, but I also have a display. So when I am burning like a mad-woman, I know I will have a few more calories in my budget!0 -
I was eating the bulk of the BodyMedia calories back. I don't think that is working for me, however. To correct this (as I really like they way BodyMedia and MFP work together) I've reduced my net calories goal instead of disconnecting the two accounts. This seems to trick my brain into behaving, as I'm eating what calories I've got "remaining" instead of trying to have some left over.0

I did a similar thing. I reduced my MFP calories to 1000 instead of 1200 to make up for what I think was a slight discrepancy in the way the two accounts sync.
You have to play with the data a little bit to discover what is right for you.0 -

1000 is what I reduced my net to as well. I'm still eating more food than I normally would, but I'll try it at 1000 for a couple of weeks and adjust it again if required.0 -
Awesome! Thanks for all the advice!0
