Eating before lifting

I am starting New Rules of Lifting for Woman tomorrow. I know it's important to get protein in within 30 minutes of finishing. But what should I eat before hand? I plan on getting up at 7:30am, and leave between 8am and 8:30 and walking to the gym (it's about 3/4 of a mile away).

Thanks

You don't really need protein 30 min after. You can have your post workout meal 1, 2 or even 3 hrs. later. Now what to eat or drink beforehand. You may have to experiment a little. I use to wake up at 3:45 A:M and have a protein drink mixed with a banana. At 4:30 have my pre-workout energy drink and arrive at the gym at 5:00. For the past 6 mths I dropped the protein pre-workout and just had about 20-30 grams of easily digestible carbs 45-60 min pre-workout along with a pre-workout energy drink. I have more energy when I do this. I think when I was consuming the protein, my body was using energy to digest it.

It doesn't matter. I like to wait at least 16 hours after eating to lift. I feel sick if I eat first.

I don't usually eat anything before lifting. I will feel sick if I do.

Yes. I eat at 7pm until 11pm. I don't like to lift any earlier than 3pm. Ideal is for me to lift around 6pm so I can go home and eat directly after. I eat like dog. Arf! Once a day. My dog is a diabetic and eats three meals a day. We traded.
