I'm going to Beijing this summer to do some figure drawing and improve my Chinese, and I'm worried that I'll have trouble eating healthily. Does anybody have any tips for eating healthily in China/Beijing?

I've allocated $15 a day for food. Thanks!!

Lol, I'd be more concerned about the air quality.

If you want to eat healthily there, you can. Easily.

I'm worried about that, too, trust me. I've found a gym that my college's program has managed to get us a group discount for so I don't have to exercise outside. This spring the pollution has been especially bad, but hopefully it will have cleared up some by a month from now...

Though to be honest, I'm also kind of interested in seeing what a city is like with so much air pollution.

Question: should I worry about eating food with MSG?

I lived there in 2007 for a year (Chaoyang District), healthy food is easy to find (non GMO, organic etc). It's incredibly cheap to cook for yourself too, plenty of fruit and vegetable markets etc.

The worst thing about Beijing is the air quality...

MSG is used frequently in Asian cuisine, you can ask most restaurants to not use MSG (a lot have signs that say the do not add it).
It is naturally found in fermented soy dishes though...
