Just bought new lifting rules

So, Im 12 pounds down on my 30pound baby weight gain, (it was actually bad food choices gain, but I'll blame the baby!) and this morning I did my first full chin up on the pull up bar, having hardly been able to lift my feet off the floor TWELVE days ago!!!! I am shocked at how fast I have achieved that. It's not much, but I've obviously become stronger, so having seen it mentioned here, I've just bought New Lifting Rules for Women for my kindle.
Im excited to see my body change. Does anyone have any advice for a complete beginner? I've got a weights bench, a 7 and a 10kg kettlebell, a pull up bar, and em, my 124 pound body weight as a starting point.
Do I need to increase my 1200 cals on days I lift at the beginning when Im not lifting too heavy to start? Im only 4.11 and have a sedentary lifestyle so 1200 isn't too little at all.
I've cut pasta, flour, rice and bread from my diet, easily enough. Eating lots of beans, veg, meat, eggs and some fruit.
How do you know what weight to start on? Is it whatever I can do 5-8 lifts with?
Thanks in advance. I know very little so open to being educated!

Join that group and take a look at some of the stickies. A lot of your questions will be answered there. You'll find a ton of supportive members that were in your exact position not long ago0
