closet eater

I noticed today when I was at a festival in town I dont get carried away with food. Social doesnt get to me. BUT WHEN I GET HOME, THIS IS WHEN TROUBLE HAPPENS. I love to eat at home by myself or with hubby, I guess because we have been married 20 yrs.
It is comforting to get in front of that tv and pig out. Lay back and enjoy myself. I know at home is where I have to be extra cautious. I wonder why? Maybe I would be embarrassed letting people see how much I eat. YOu would think it would be worse in social situations, picnics, etc with a lot of food but No, it is when I am alone. Any of ya like this and what has helped? I am maintaining my weight now and want to stay that way.

I too am a closet eater! When I have blow outs is mainly in the evenings before bed if I'm home alone. It's usually if I'm bored or upset or peed off for any reason but can be for loads of reasons and sometimes no reason other than I want it!! For me I try not to keep foods in that I know I will want to overeat bcs if its there, I will eat It. Yet if I have friends round for girls night, I don't overeat at all, even with loads of naughties around.0

I used to be the same. Whenever my husband went out of the house I would raid the fridge. Or if I was in town by myself I would always get food down me. Now I have lost 42 lbs it seems easier. I think I am so proud of myself I don't want to ruin it. Other strange phobias have got better too, so I suppose it's just about feeling happier and not having to fill up that empty space. I think there are a lot of people who are good in public, but their private selves are vulnerable.
Good luck in coming to terms with this. I hope my changes will be for life :bigsmile:0 -
I keep busy when I'm out and in social situations, so usually there isn't the temptation to over eat. But when at home, I'm either bored or exhausted from a long day and just want to sit and eat all night... So I've got this same problem!0

Can you take up knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery or some other hobby that keeps your hands busy? (I play a lot of solitaire on the computer when watching Netflix, etc because my hands don't like to lay still, but sometimes I'm too tired or "lazy" to do something more "constructive")0
