Ok, so I learned that it's best to eat your exercise calories (the calories you get back after exercising). But what in the world could I eat? I feel like i've been eating enough throughout the day. If I eat all my calories back I'm going to run out of healthy snacks to eat. I'm just running out of ideas, help!

Just make your main meals a little bigger to absorb the extra calories.

After aerobic exercise I've heard that it's good to eat a carbohydrate like a piece of fruit, along with a protein like cottage cheese or a scoop of whey. After a weight workout the protein aspect is very important.

eat what you want...just be sure to balance it with protein and keep it within the calorie range recommended by MFP. also it is best to eat those extra calories after your work out to replenish your glycogen levels in your liver.

I eat a small dipped DQ ice cream once a week after my work outs when I really want a treat...seriously, the only rule is I have to have my high protein shake (that has zero carbs and fats) before I eat the ice cream...I do this so my blood sugar does not spike to high, but remember an insulin response after a work out is not a bad thing, it helps build muscle, so occasionally I indulge in ice cream, my one sugar weakness. I did it 6 times in the last 8 weeks and STILL managed to lose 20 lbs.

You earned the calories, eat what you want.

A glass of milk - or even chocolate milk, which is touted as a great post-workout drink - should help fill the gap, assuming you're dairy tolerant. A pb&j sandwich is also a cheap yummy snack with protein, carbs and fiber (more or less depending on your choice of bread).

I'm surprised at the amount of times that people ask this same question.

    Eat good food, clean food.
When I work out, I work hard. I leave everything at the gym, sometimes that includes a liter of sweat, and what's left of lunch.

    I eat:
    Chicken.
    Protein drinks.
Cottage cheese (love the eff outta this with strawberries)
    Meat.
    Meat with cheese.
    Eggs cooked in butter.
    Eggs with meat and cheese.

I personally prefer protein, and since I'm lifting as hard as my body allows for, I know I need to eat protein. Honestly, in my opinion, there is no food type more pleasant to eat than meat.

After I work out, I destroy food!

Usually I start off with a glass of chocolate almond milk.

    peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
    any fruit in the house!
    yogurt
    pudding if there is any!
    chocolates sometimes
    deli meat.
hummus and carrots or pita bread

Then I take a break and have lunch.
