I didn't get to my goal, always skinny. and yes, life is better.

You seem to be missing that filter that says "maybe I shouldn't say this out loud"

    Perfectly said. Thank you.

To the OP: I find I am more confident as I am slimming down, though the internal landscape remains mostly the same, as Amber's. I take a sense of accomplishment in the strength exercises that I'm able to do now that were difficult at first. And I am now able to look back and see a clear difference in how I've treated my body before - that gives me invaluable perspective.

I was at my goal weight a little over a year ago and was pretty happy then. Less so when bigger, but having been the smaller weight, I know it won't end "feeling fat" days completely or that I'll fall into place feeling like a super-goddess all the time. But I will feel sexier. I will feel pride in having concretely and visibly worked towards a goal.

I'm one of those people who get SUPER EXCITED about something and then abandon it a month later. So being able to follow on this will be extremely emotionally satisfying.

Life IS better! Because I look better and feel more confident. I still have those "fat" days, but for the most part I feel great and full of energy! Exercise has become a part of my daily routine! I have 80+ pounds off and have maintained that for quite awhile...Most of all my boyfriend has noticed my self esteem is much better and he has noticed that "I" feel sexier, even though he thinks I was sexy 80 pounds heavier...it is a mindset, yes, but losing the weight is what helped me to get there.

I met my first goal, which is to be at a weight I can donate my kidney to my cousin who will need it some day. I am trying to lose 30 more pounds to be a "normal" BMI because I think it would be healthier and less taxing on my body when I do donate. Knowing I can give her my kidney when she needs it is worth it. Totally. Also, I like the way I look in pictures now, I like clothes better, I can do things around the house easier. I also get A LOT more attention from the opposite sex, which is nice. I think it is totally worth it. It won't change who you are and it won't make everything in your life better or more exciting, but there are plenty of benefits to make it worth it.

In a word - YES! I've been at my goal weight for about 8 months now and I couldn't be happier. I feel so much better about myself that it makes the typical problems (the ones that don't go away with weight loss) much easier to handle. I am running again along with my cycling (which has become a lot easier) and I seem to have gotten my energy back. Feels like a big weight has been lifted off of me, literally and figuratively.
