food scale update

i recently inquired about a food scale that calculates fat sodium carbs calories etc. Thanks to a reply from a MFP member i was able to find the link on amazon and thought about purchasing the item. I am hesitant for two reasons
1. Might not sync with MFP dropdown food menu which makes it easy to calculate any food category trader joes, shoprite etc . All you need is weight .
2. Check out this video. When you find out the sodium level for one plain bagel is 800 mg compared to MFP calculation of 200mg , you might not want to know the real truth in the ingredients of some foods according to this precise scale . Let me know what you think

no offence but this seems like a load of bull****. to calculate the nutrients of something you should have to blend it to a paste and do several tests on it

A scale measures weight. That's it.

Any other information this scale is giving you is coming from a database, based on what you tell it the food is. What makes you think it's database is any more accurate than MFP's?
  • No i totally agree. If the scale cant do the job 123 instead of having to calculate more entries , then its worthless. On the plus side it does give you an exact indication of what you are putting in your body but it screws up your food diary and the calculations of MFP drop down menu
