What do you like about your gym?

Allows chalk, has 2 power cages, deadlift platform. No bull**** approach, no stupid machines like arm cycles. It's affordable, clean, friendly. There's no chance of me running out of weight like at my old gym. A lot of cable machines for assistance, the dumbbells go up to about 70kg. There's a dedicated deadlift platform, I don't get **** for olympic lifts.
An additional bonus is it's a bodybuilding gym, it attracts a lot of idiots lifting with ridiculous form, keeping me entertained while I rest between sets, in the equipment that 80% of them don't use.0 -
Totally state of the art with every device imaginable, 1/8 mile indoor track, 1 mile outdoor path(s) in the woods, two indoor pools, 1 outdoor pool, full basketball court, sauna, therapy pools, free licensed trainers, and here comes the amazing part: only 25.00 USD per year and it is designed for the 50+ crowd...so ya gotta hit that age to be able to join. Only 15 minutes from our home. People there are so friendly, helpful and I have never seen such in shape and beautiful people my age and older (I'm 54).
Not bad for us Boomers!0 -
My gym is the Y and I love the classes(variety and at all times of the day) as well as the friendly staff.0

IT'S FREE!!!!!
I'm retired Navy, so I'm able to go to my local base gym for free.0 -
Its inexpensive and my childcare and sons swimming lessons are included in my monthly fee.0

I mostly go the neighborhood YMCA. They have a great saltwater pool, a small but well equipped gym, and lots of classes if you're into group activities. There are people of all ages and sizes. I have access to a fitness place on base and it's one of the best I've been to. Plus, it's free!-1 -
The friendliness of the owners, the amount of machines and how cheap it is as well. Fitness 19 is amazing.0
-
Planet fitness..I like that its super cheap..$10/month. And I like that its big so nobody bothers me trying to chat and make friends like at smaller gyms. I just want to get in...do what I have to do and get out. Not talk about whatever crap going on. I also love the row of tvs and how I can plug my headphones into any cardio machine to listen.0
-
It's close to my house; 5-7 minute bike ride close. It's also clean and really bright. I'm a member of LA Fitness.0

I like the fact that my gym is no longer Planet Fitness. Signed up for it because of how cheap and close it was. The only good thing about it was the cardio machines. So I switched back to my local rec, best choice i've made gym-wise. It has a free weight room, a machine weight room, 2 basketball courts, a pool, sauna, boxing, a track. If you go early, the only people there are mostly only old people and they never get in your way...on top of all that it only cost me $50 for a year, with no BS gimmicks like planet fitness or any other corporate gym chains.0

Close to work, cheap and never crowded during the hours I visit. It ain't pretty, but I can do my thang in peace without a wait.0
-
My apartment complex gym is small. However, early in the morning is almost empty and I don't have to wait around for anyone or anything!0
-
I lovethe classes and that they have assistance programs for those who are low income As well, it is a 12 minute walk from my apartment and 30 minute walk from work which is awesome since I don't have a car.(I go to the Y)0

hot men in spandex...... need I say more...
Isn't your gym a mirrored room Jac?
ETA: with just you in it.
why yes. now that you mention it I guess it is. :blushing:0 -
Salt pool. Cardio area always on a different level than weights at all the locations. plenty of equipment so there's seldom a wait. Not a meat market. And only a few dolts who don't realize dropping weights makes them look like idiots.0
-
My trainer! And that it's clean and doesn't smell.0
-
That today it was empty I went to my home town today, lil tiny town. Sunday mornings it's a ghost town. I love it.0
-
It has two power cages, three squat rack, two deadlifting platforms and nice, big, colour coded plates that are easy to load on the bar.0
-
it is right downstairs! yay!0
-
Its clean!0
-
Since water workouts are best for me, I love the two pools and two hot tubs for soaking afterward.0
-
Staff is awesome, it's clean, 90% of it is the weight room and it has ZERO classes.0

26 dollars a month0

I like that I don't have to fight over machines anymore! A new "refurbished" gym opened up literally a block away and everyone just goes there now (it's REALLY nice but I don't like to wait..). OH! And they're free!!0
-
There's a new fitness center in the basement of the building I work in. Great for sneaking downstairs at lunch for a run or getting in early (and getting a good parking space) and getting a workout in.0
-
Mine's a complete "home gym" downstairs...I have mirrors on the walls, can see every move....I love that!!0

I am currently backpacking in Australia, and usually a gym membership for me right now would be out of the question.
However, as I am settled in Sydney for 3 months, I saw a voucher on Groupon for a small gym round the corner (literally 5 mins walk) and it only cost me $70 (AUD) for 3 months! So that was perfect.
It's a tiny gym - it's just intended to be a small gym to service the Rugby Club as it's built onto the club's land, but they have allowed outsiders to use it too, and it's open 24 hours a day, so it's perfect for me right now.
When I get home, I would prefer something a bit more luxurious, more of a weight lifting area, bigger gym, classes, pool, spa and luxuries but for now this is beyond perfect.0 -

Im jelous of the olympic sized pool!
I go to tthe local and I like they have child watch on the cheap (2 bucks a kid for 2.5 hours), I like that they have a pool/jacuzzi, and I like that most of the Weight room staff is very friendly and willing to spot, offer advice, help with form, etc.0
