I know it's not really relevant to this site, but I was wondering if anyone has any insight about how to get a job at Petsmart. I had an interview today and they asked me about 5 questions, which I thought I answered pretty well, but I was nervous and don't have that much retail experience, although I do have pet experience. The guy that was interviewing me just said they would let me know soon.

Petsmart is probably looking for more than just someone that loves pets because they are also a business (like wal-mart is a business) so whatever skills are necessary for the job will matter too. If you need to work a cash register and they don't have someone to train you then they will hire someone who is already experienced. Sad but true.

If you are applying to be a groomers assistant or to stock merchandise you will more than likely get hired because these are entry level type jobs.

Regardless of what happens I want you to realize how crappy the economy is right now (especially in certain places) and how a lot of hiring people will hire someone who they get along with over someone who is qualified. It all depends if there were alot of people competing with you for this position. So if you don't get it please don't take it personally there are so many factors that play a part. Go out there and try again.

I read an article that said using online sources like Monster, careerbuilder, and hotjobs is a bad idea because hundreds of people flock to those listings. It says that using the phone book and calling businesses and asking if they are hiring or if they have an open position leads to better results.
