Weight question.

I just started my fitness pal about 3 weeks ago.. Within that time I have lost 3lbs is that a normal amount of weight to lose? Or should I be losing more? I'm 5'2" and 222 lbs.. I went on a "diet " last year and lost 50 lbs but have up and gained it all back.. I was doing no carbs so there was no way I felt I could stick to it for ever but I am determined to be healthier.. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

    3 pounds in 3 weeks is a pound a week, which is just about where you should be! good for you for recognizing that a low carb eating pattern isn't sustainable for you! much better to eat in a way that you can actually get along with :) congrats on the loss, keep it up! but definitely don't get discouraged if you don't lose anything some weeks, the next week after that you might drop 3 or 4 pounds. weight loss isn't a straight line, but as long as your general trend is downwards, those little snags are really nothing to worry about. good luck :)

    A pound a week is pretty much ideal.

    Your previous experience is why "diets" that prohibit certain foods are dumb and do not work long term: once you are done with the "diet" and reintroduce those foods, you gain the weight back.

    Calorie restriction, while eating whatever food you want, is much more sustainable.
