... a quick question...
Say I'm eating 1500 calories a day... wait.. lets say 1200, like I see thrown around here with great discussion. If I eat a meal that is 800 calories, and then eat low calorie snacks and meals the remainder of the day (and I don't work out) ,won't my body see that huge meal as my feeding it well and then it won't go into starvation mode?
Ok.. another question...
If my stomach doesnt ever feel 'hungry', I keep healthy food going in every 2-3 hours, would it still slip into that starvation mode? When I do work out, I will add that back into my caloric intake as the MFP will do, eat more calories for the day. (I'm not in this for the quick fix)
I'm trying to discern all the info that I've read on TDEE and BMR and.. eat this much, eat that little ..... OMG haha. I'm so grateful to have inserted myself into the community. I've been using the app for a while, but isolating more than I'd realized. I wish I would have known the width and breadth of the information and support here sooner. Never too late tho!

On thing that MFP cannot do is discern each person's physiology. That is the primary reason (I think) that it simply sticks to the net count. It will not be able tell you if your body is going into starvation... simply give suggestions on your daily intake.
Time and time again we've seen that smaller portions keeps your metabolism up better than big meals. So will your body go into starvation mode on your first hypothesis?... Probably
I don't believe that if you keep digesting every 2-3 hours, that your body will have a chance to slip into that starvation mode.0
