I USED to get that crap from the kids when I went to the roller rink.

I used to get laughs when I danced until I got sick of it -- and finally turned around and asked "if it's so funny that a fat woman dares to dance, and you obviously have more style and skill than "this" fat *kitten* grandmother, why don't you try dancing yourself?" I watched the first three nasty kids try a simple dance move I do and fall on their arses.

Now they ask me to teach them the moves, *kitten* and all. No one laughs except newbees who promptly fall on their arses. LOL!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA9UF4IYZ8U -- yes, I dance to this on skates while spinning past everyone. Throw a Zumba right on top of quad roller wheels spinning a rink at full speed, and there it is! LOL

One of my comebacks is, "If you think it is that easy, then come out here and run!"

I know as a kid when I would see my dad run a 5K I'd think that is easy. I'd go out with him on his next run, make it about 2 blocks and turn around to go home. Even if you are super skinny doesn't mean you are in shape. Even though my mile is slow I can outlast many of my skinny friends when it come to endurance.

Keep on running! Haters are gonna hate. :drinker:

  • When my fiance finished running he could see I was irritated. Asked why, and I told him. He walked off saying "No one talks to you like that". Turns out he gave the kids a talking to, and said they better watch it or they're gonna say something to the wrong person one day. They all denied it, while stuttering and looking at the ground. Mind you, while he was looking, he watched one jump in front of a guy running and almost knocking him over. He stopped and went around them, messing up his run. While we were leaving the kids were starting to walk off, but I doubt they left.

I am very glad to see that there are real men still in this world. Most guys I know tell their wives to "get over it". You are lucky you have a man who defends you. Those kids are in fact children of the men in question, those "men" who run away to hide as soon as their wives seem to be in trouble.
  • Thank you all so so much for all you said. I tried not to let it bug me too much, but it did a bit. I seriously appreciate the positive thoughts from everyone, and I know some children will just be kids and have a bad upbringing.

My fiance told me right after he yelled at them to watch what they say one kid fell off his scooter, and an older guy laughed a bit. My fiance said to him "Don't feel bad for laughing, he's calling runners fat" and the guy said "Maybe next time I'll push him off". I'm so proud of my fiance for not getting childish about it, but warning these kids one day they're gonna say it to the wrong person, who won't be so understand or let it roll of their back like I do. I've been called fat before, it never feels good but I never let these people drag me down with them.

I know how it was to be that age. It sucked for me. In fact, that was the most common time I was called fat, ugly...so on and so forth. Probably were my terrible self-image of myself formed from, and I don't like these children thinking it's ok to say to anyone.

The track I was running at is an outdoor track available to the public. I myself don't have a membership to that gym, I go to Planet Fitness, but it's a great outdoor place to run. They still were quite displeased and I hope others say things. I sure will if I hear or see them doing these things again. There is NO age that makes it okay to say such nasty things to other people.

Right around that area there are some wealthy houses. Mooresville has some rich...rich families, and I believe they rode over or walked over from their houses across the street. I doubt they have much punishment from parents, and it shows
  • That's terrible. Were these kids girls? I bet they were boys. Boys at that age have no real appreciation for the athletic female body. I know because I was one 15 years ago. 12-year old boys are usually skinny, and they don't know the difference from fat and muscle on a grown woman. But you can bet one day they will learn to appreciate the finer things in life, like a woman's hips and thighs and *kitten*, lol. I bet you could run circles around those kids.

btw...I'm a straight guy, but I must say your fiance, assuming that's him in the pic, looks like Josh Groban...a great singer, and one who many ladies consider attractive.

Haha, that's awesome. He got that a lot when his hair was that long. He's cut it since then (November) but that's awesome
