Exercise after hurting knee

Hi,

I've woken up this morning with a very painful knee - really sharp pain every time I bend it. I've gone to the gym nearly everyday recently to do different things. After Saturday's intense interval training on the treadmill my legs were aching quite a lot and I probably should have had a day off. However, yesterday I went to a Pump class and I think the thing which damaged my knee was doing front then side lunges with a bar bell quickly alternating between the two. I'm sure my knee will be OK soon but don't want to risk anything.

I was going to go to Circuit Training tonight but if it still hurts then I don't think it's a good idea because it will involve squats, etc. Is there a good workout I can do which won't damage it further? Or should I just give myself a day off and get back to it tomorrow? I don't know if some exercise would actually be better than not doing anything...

I would suggest taking a day or two off if you're body is telling you to. You have to listen to your body. I know if I have a busy day and feel it the next day then I had a good workout but feeling the results and hurting are not the same. Obviously that is just my opinion and I am not a doctor but one day of rest won't hurt. I usually take a day or two off a week. Give yourself a break and get back to it when you are feeling stronger. :-) Good luck.

Thanks, think you might be right. Reluctant to take a day off as I know I'm facing lots of chances to eat and drink too much this weekend!

Get some Ice on it, or even better ice and heat intervals, and try not to do anything that impacts on your legs for a couple of days. You can still do upper body stuff just no squats or running!
