Today I just Realized...

I log almost everything I eat (okay sue me for not logging the 2 french fries I ate at work because I have no idea how many calories TWO french fries are). The thing is, I rarely care if I am within my set calories or not. I think it is because I can not accurately account for my light weight lifting a benching that I do many days a week, and I do not like to log the several mile walks I take every day just to get to work or class or a friends house. There way more considerations than this, just examples. So although I have set my calories for 1450 (which isn't anything scientific, I just wanted something between 1200-1500) I rarely ever stay under.

I use this logging tool to find low-calorie solutions when I dine out, control my alcohol consumption and to decide what is actually a healthy choice and what is not.

Yes, I do care how many calories I consume, but I am more concerned about my sodium levels, if I am meeting my protein levels and if I can hit my fat goals on a low calorie diet.

I have realized while counting calories is important and I will continue to do it, I most likely will not intentionally TRY to stay under 1450.

Instead, I have learned PORTION CONTROL, HEALTHY SUBSTITUTES (at restaurants and in tempting situations) & TO LISTEN TO MY BODY (aka I eat when I am hungry and I don't when I'm not)
I never knew that doing this could be so simple!

*** But of course, Don't forget the exercise! [Oh right, I also use the exercise notes tab to track how many times a week I lift and do abs and which exercises I do XD] I have also learned DISCIPLINE! To get up earlier in the morning than I really need to, to get my day started with 15-20 minutes of cardio and some nice lifting to get my heart rate going for the day.

These simple things [Portion control, healthy substitutes, listening to my body & discipline] along with also learning not to give anything up, is how I have accomplished what I have accomplished so far & I expect to continue.

I hope someone take these easy lessons from this (excessively long) post and realizes too that it is not that difficult and easy to stick with!
