tupperware containers

I have some older (around at least most of my life) real honest to goodness Tupperware that I've gotten from my mom. I have a couple of questions.
1) Is it still safe (made in US) or is is likely to have BPAs and other nasty chemicals leeching into my food?
2) The lids are now too loose for the respective container and won't stay closed. Is there a way to 'tighten' or shrink the lid so I can get a better seal and not have to use a rubberband to even keep the lid on?

Go to Costco. Buy a million-pack of BPA-free plastic containers or glass containers. I never keep old tupperware, especially if it's been through the microwave/heated/whatever. Gross.

Old Tupperware was made before anyone knew what BPA's were .... you might have to go to the Tupperware website on that one. I'm guessing these are not BPA free.

I've been replacing contains ..... a few at a time with glass ones.....I figure I can't reheat in plastic anyway. You can buy Pyrex containers with snap on lids (don't nuke the lids or they will get warped). I use freezer bags for anything frozen.
