Total Gym

I've reached a healthy BMI through diet and cardio. Now I need to focus on toning and working the last problem areas (which are probably everyone's problem areas): upper arms, thighs and belly/waist. I really do not want to join a gym (probably for the same reasons most people avoid the gym): time, distance, waiting for machines, costs... I'm considering buying a Total Gym and was wondering if anyone has input on whether it's a good tool for toning up.

I bought the Weider version of it a few weeks back. Exact same machine for hundreds less! Amazon has it....only drawback is you have to buy the exercises or put them on your laptop and bring the laptop into the exercise room.

Great machine though.....easy to use and tough to get hurt.

My father has one and has used it as his main form of exercise for a few years now. His main complaint with it is that it's not a a TRUE full body workout because lower body options are very limited. He recently picked up a couple kettlebells, however, and hasn't looked back. The kettlebells have replaced his Total Gym completely.

Thank you. I'll look into that option!

I hadn't even thought of kettlebells. I really don't know anything about them, but they must be very versatile. Definitely going to research this option. Thank you!
