Is your diary public? Maybe we can have a look and give you some tips on swapping out the high sugar culprits for alternatives? There are a lot of people on here with lifesaving tips that have helped me.
  • I thought the same! the healthy things i thought were good. Low Calorie but full of sugar!

:-/ hard to balance it! I am new to this too though...but it seems that Exercise is the Key!

    good luck! :-)

First remember that mfp, doesn't see any difference between added sugar (sweets, bread etc etc) and natural sugar fruits. Also try and limit yourself to 2 pieces of fruit per day max your three should be veg this will help keep your levels down hope this helps good luck

Don't worry too much about it just hit your calorie target, I'm over on my sugar target everyday because of fruit but still lose weight.
  • There are no easy fixes. Cut out the processed junk. Focus on lean protein, tons of fresh vegetables, and small amounts of fresh fruit (mostly berries), nuts, and seeds. Your overall calories is the primary goal, but uping your good protein and fat is going to help you feel fuller with the same amount of calories.

Don't worry about all that micromanaging nonsense. Just focus on your macros and your daily calorie target. The natural sugars from fruit =/= sugars from candy bars. I wouldn't eat an entire bunch of bananas a day but 2-3 pieces of fruit a day is certainly fine and is definitely healthy.

    Sugars are subcategory of carbohydrates.

Unless there is a medical reason to watch your sugar, don't worry about it.

Just keep your carbs in check and you'll be fine.

Don't worry about sugar unless you a medical reason to do so, and even if you think you do, you probably don't.

I often hit my "sugar" consumption very little processed food. The "limit" is silly.

Watch your calories first, macros second... little else matters.

If you're worried about sugar, try veggie fillers instead. Still very good for you and way lower on the sugar front.

I never meet the sugar goal. One Chobani greek yogurt and a piece of fruit and I'm over for the day. Whatever.

Getting sugar from fruit is better than getting the sugar and all the other bad things from eating a bunch of stuff that is bad for you. I love fruit and eat quite a bit of it, and I have lost and continue to keep losing. Just keep at it, you'll find your happy medium.

Listen to the abs. The abs never lie to you and they will never steer you wrong. Well, at least not these abs.

"Caps lock" is right under "tab" and above "shift". First column on your keyboard. Push that button. You're welcome.

    Switch to veggies.

It would also be helpful if you opened your diary.

Unless you're a diabetic no need to watch sugar. Make sure you meet or exceed proteins and fats, and stay under the carb numbers in your diary.

I NEVER WORRY ABOUT FRUIT SUGAR!!!! (WHY ARE WE YELLING?) AHEM! Anyway...I am just careful to pretty much only eat sugars from fruit...I stay away from other forms of sugar and it works great for me
  • I started tracking sugar tsp. for my doctor and I was shocked to find that my morning "skinny" latte:frown: had 23g carbohydrates/5tsp. of sugar! Ugh! I quit drinking any alcohol and now it looks like I should quit drinking coffee too. Woe is me...

My strategy for this problem is to manually adjust the limits.

    Problem solved.

I don't even bother tracking sugar, because, as many people have said, MFP doesn't differentiate between refined sugars and fruit sugars or dairy sugars (lactose is a sugar). Just track your carbs and keep that in check. Unless you have the NEED to monitor actual sugar, it doesn't benefit you to see that you go over your sugar everyday because of fruits.

    Great strategy!

OP just track carbs and don't sweat the sugar so much, unless you have a medical reason to keep track of it.

I think MFP sets sugar goals wayyyy too low. If I have a banana and cottage cheese I am over my sugar for the day. I don't even pay much attention to it anymore, as long as the food I am logging is healthy and giving me energy. I am more concerned with my calories and carbs. But I suppose everyone has different fitness/diet goals.
