Younger folks in the Baton Rouge area?

My boyfriend is taking a job in the BR area in a few months. I was wondering if there are any MFPers who live in the area that can give me a few pointers on good and/or fun neighborhoods for younger folks to live in. We are in our early/mid 20s and currently live in the suburbs of Chicago. I know all cities have good/bad areas, and I have no knowledge of the area whatsoever so I'd like to hear some feedback. Also, since this IS MFP and all, if there are any good gym chains in the area or recreational classes worth looking in to, please feel free to suggest. I do know that joining a great gym or getting involved in fun activities is a good way to meet other people my age.
