To join a gym, or not to join a gym? That is the question.

I normally work insane hours, so I do my workouts at home. I go for runs, walks, and do The Butt Bible, coach track, etc. That being said, my work day is about to get cut short almost two hours a day for the next month or so. Then it's going to get cut 2 more hours a day, followed by being off for a month for summer. I also just got out of a relationship, and want to step up my fitness game as time allows, because I don't have anyone's time to consider now but my own (I used to try and schedule workouts to maximize the time I had with my boyfriend, which is obviously no longer a concern). I also want something to keep me busy (and my mind off my ex), and something that could possible be a social thing as well (working out with friends, etc). So, I've been considering joining a gym - Bally's to be exact. I had a membership to 24 that expired in October that I had had for two years, and I probably didn't go more then 24 times total in the time I had it, but I also wasn't working out at home then either. Thoughts? I definitely want to step up my workout game, especially with regards to lifting weights, which I just can't really do at home (no equipment). Is it worth taking the plunge on a gym membership? I don't want to just throw away money like I have in the past on gym memberships. ...granted, I workout now without a gym membership, and didn't workout then with one. Maybe I just answered my own question.
