quick q about rests in strength training

I am doing body strength training (did Nerdfitness and now on You Are Your Own Gym which I LOVE!) and really enjoying it. I am a busy Mum of 2 so work out in quiet times at home. However, as you can imagine, frequently need to stop to attend the needs of little people! Will it impact on my program if I stop for ten minutes to ie sort out a nappy, or snack etc then go back where I left off...
Thanks for any advice

10 minutes is quite a long rest between sets.
If you're moving on to a different exercise/ muscle group I would say it's fine but, especially with body weight training I would try to keep my rests no longer than 3 minutes.0 -
Not sure how old the kids are, but I very much doubt there's much happening that can't wait for a bit. Prepare a little, if it's snack time during your workout make sure you prep it before hand. A dirty nappie really can wait for 10-15 minutes for you to finish your workout. Of course depending on how long that workout is.
Learn your kids some independence by not being there for them at every peep they make and you'll have time to do your workout. Of course, if they fall and hurt themselves make time. If they beat each other up, make time. But most of the time this shouldn't take more than 30 seconds, which is ok as a rest during your workout.
Really question if the things interrupting you should be interrupting you. You're not a bad mom if you're not 100% available for your kids.0 -

I appreciate what you are saying but I'm quite happy with the way I parent and how I meet my children's needs...I take on board the pre-preparing snacks though; fab idea The daughter I have at home with me is 2.5 years old and very independent...however, it is natural for her at that age to tire of an activity and come and see what I'm up to. Mummy exercising is about the only time of day she even *wants* to join me - typical! It doesn't happen every time and I try and plan activities for her but if she is needing me, I go. My prerogative as her Mum.0 -
Let her copy you, so long as she keeps out from under your feet. Probably not going to work for the chin-ups, mind, but she'll have fun derping around trying to do push ups and the like.0
