Joining the Gym Today

Going 6 O Clock tonight for my induction at the local gym.

I am hoping to go Mon, Wed, Fri for a combi of Cardio and Mainly weights/resistance on Machines. (Not feeling brave enough for free weights atm.)

Then the other days pop up for some cardio as and when I fancy it. Definately at least one day on the weekend.

Does this sound like a resonable start. Any recommended schedules would be great.

Am I right in Assuming that it is best to rest a day inbetween the weights work.
