Tryptophan?

Why is tryptophan in so many recovery/protein drinks?
I found one article saying its to enhance you're mood so you work out again.
Is that really it or doesn't it have another function?
I know it's happy stuff, but I don't really need my protein shake making me happy after all those yummy exercise endorphins are released anyways!

Not sure, probably something with neglible (spelling?) benefits that is nice to put on the side of a package to convince you to buy.0

Should have pointed this ? at my own group of friends in the first place.
Tryptophan is a protein, thus it's inclusion in a protein shake.0 -
Tryptophan is an amino acid and a precursor to serotonin which by some is considered the "happy" neurotransmitter.
It's much more complex than simply adding tryptophan to our food, but I believe that's the idea behind it.0
