I have a bodymedia fit (not the body bugg) and I love it. The only downfall that i have seen so far, is that you have to wear it on your arm and sometimes shirts don't cover it. But its very accurate!

FITBIT: tracks based off steps (glorified pedometer)

BODYMEDIA: tracks based off 5 sensors using heat temp, heat flux and motion to get a clinically Proven 90% accurate results in most activities.

    FITBIT: No monthly fee

BODYMEDIA: 3 months free, then $6.99

Just to add to this. I have a fitbit, bodybugg and bodymedia. I only used the bodymedia. It works the same as the bodybugg, but at last check the subscription fee is cheaper and the website is much nicer. The bodymedia is also smaller than bodybugg...both are bigger and more obvious than the fitbit.

    Best wishes on your decision.

I can't speak for Fitbit, but I have a ton of experience with BodyBugg. I wore one faithfully for over a year. I did what it told me I should do, tracked my calories with their software (don't bother, MFP is WAY better) worked out 5x a week, ate the amount of calories I was supposed to, and lost NOTHING. In hindsight, here is what I really hated about it.

    1. If you don't wear it for a few days, you have to go through every single day and hit "skip" to cycle through the missed time. Maybe the new ones are more efficient, but there was no way to just start in real time and blow off the last 5 days I was on vacation eating and drinking like the american tourist on the beach that I was.

    2. As mentioned above, their food logging website is painfully inadequate. MFP has 1,000X more food options in the database.

    3. The website is slow and buggy. (No pun inteneded). Often I couldn't download or log because the site had crashed or froze up on me.

    4. It's bulky. It does not look good under tight sweaters (arm band style)

    5. Anytime you want to add enhancments (including their app) you have to upgrade your hardware. That pissed me off. I paid $150 for a "state of the art" piece, and a year later it is outdated and won't work with their new software.

    6. Lastly, their calculations for me where just too darn high. I was reluctant to start MFP for all of the reasons above, but mostly, it didn't work. In hind site I see it was telling me to consume (net) 1,000 calories a day more than MFP. No wonder I wasn't losing weight! 1,000 calories a day off? That's just crazy. That's enough to GAIN 2 lbs a week...

Oh, and if you run a meal plan, you may get a suggestion for breakfast of oatmeal and turkey burger. Yes diets are strange, but never could I imagine putting turkey burger and oatmeal together..

    Good luck!

Body Media - Giant device strapped to your arm

    FitBit - nice and discrete

    FitBit wins for me.
