It seems that so many people are willing to do whatever it takes to loose weight as soon as possible, including eating drastically low amounts.
It kind of makes me think that they just want to make the giant sacrifice and do whatever it takes and get it over with as soon as possible and get back to their "real" life.
I maybe wrong, but I get that vibe from a number of posts.
I know that after I get to my goal weight, my life won't change, except I will get perhaps 400-600 calorie more per day (I'll need to figure out my true maintenance rate). I will need to eat in the same way and work out just as often and just as hard.
So I am just living a healthier lifestyle (with occasional unhealthy treats, within reason) and waiting for the weight to come off by itself (and it does). Why put extreme stress on my body? It makes sense to minimize the stress of going on a calorie deficit.
Because if I am to remain at my new weight, there is no "getting it over with" component to this, and I should learn now how to best enjoy this new life.

I think a quick, hard shock can help some people though. Like I do best with rapid, dramatic changes. It's just my psychology. Gradual changes take too long and I lose interest. Once I get over what I perceive to be the hard part I am good to go. I would rather struggle with a dramatic change for a few weeks than gradually move into something and not know that I am accomplishing anything.
Just my take on it.0 -
