Insanity Month 2 (Need Help keeping up)

Alright guys, I don't want to sound like a broken record, because this subject has probably seen talked about more then enough times, so I'll just cut to the chase.
I'm on my 4th day of the second month of Insanity, and the Max workouts are like no other. I mean I thought the First month was difficult, but this is on another level. With that being said.... I'm having trouble keeping up with the Max Workouts overall. I find my self taking more breaks then I did the first month. I feel like I'm kind of cheating my self, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on just "Keeping up"
I've notice Shawn T has mentioned in the videos himself that you should drink the Recovery and Results formula during the workout. Me being a College student, I really don't have the money for such an expensive drink. I'd drink chocolate Milk 1%, but me being lactose intolerant, doesn't seem like such a good idea.
Any suggestions on what could help me get through the workouts, and anything that might of help.
Thank you for reading my post, and taking a look. If you leave a comment with your advice it will be more then appreciated

When you first started Month 1 were you able to keep up then? Or did you get stronger and stop less as you went? I'm willing to bet you got stronger as you went. The same thing is going to happen in Month 2. It's a much higher intensity than the first month and you did just do one week of recovery. I had someone tell me once to drink grape juice for sore muscles. I tried it and it helped me. I don't know the science behind it at all. Could just be in my head, I don't know.
My advice? Think back to the motivation that got you started in the first place. Use it now. Look at Month 2 as a whole new workout. Try not to think of it as a continuation of the first month because it really isn't. Keep pushing through and you will take less breaks as you go, you will get fitter and it will get "easier."0 -
I'm on my last week on Insanity and I really struggled that first week too. You are NOT cheating yourself. Just do what YOU can do. As long as you are pushing yourself, you are not cheating. I don't want to say it gets easier... it's not easy but I am definitely taking less brakes now. Just keep going with it!
I don't use the recovery formula or shakeology or any of that. I can't afford it either and don't think it's necessary personally. I drink a protein shake after my workouts or eat a high protein meal. I only drink water during.0 -
I agree with what the others have said; just do what you can and allow yourself to get stronger. That being said, if you really, really feel like you are struggling, you could go back and do another week or two of month one.
As far as the R&R goes, it isn't totally necessary and is really better as an after workout drink, one to help rebuild muscle and reduce soreness. You can get a good protein powder and maybe even mix some of it in some orange juice and get a similar drink. Whey protein generally is okay for those that are lactose intolerant, but make sure you listen to your body. There are others out there that are not whey, just stay away from any with soy in it.
You can also keep your electrolytes up by adding a pinch of Himalayan sea salt to your water; it's not too expensive and does help quite a bit.0 -
I feel your pain. I have been really into working through soreness but sometimes I have to cash in an extra rest day. I am half way through month two. I stopped doing the fit tests. Crazy man, you want me to do max Interval Circuit AFTER the fit test! I don't care so much about those numbers so I'll just do the fit test at the end. I was VERY rigid about sticking to the schedule but I have loosened up a little because I was miserable. With my previous 6 months of working out (mostly Jillian stuff) I would be tired immediately after but then I'd have more energy through out the day. Nope, not that way with month 2 of Insanity. I am freaking spent after and spend the entire next day recovering.
One thing I did to try and make it better is eat my afternoon snack later in the day, trying to get it to be one hour before I exercise (after work). Seems to have helped a bit. Also, you will start to build better endurance as you proceed.0 -
OH MY GOSH! I'm on my last week of Month 1 and now, reading all these posts, I'm SUPER scared of what's to come in Month 2!!!0

I start month 2 on Monday and i remember to day one where I had to stop every minute it seemed like.. I think you just have to build yourself up... find your pace..0 -
I drank whey protein shakes....didn't necessarily need the recovery results stuff...oh yeah and ate vitamins.0

I am on the last week of month 1 and I know month 2 will be hard to begin again but I have also read that month 2 is where you get the most results this alone will keep me motivated that and 6 weeks until my wedding. Keep going you can do it!0

Everyone is different. I'm on my second round of Insanity, and it's still difficult. You just have to go at your own pace- the videos even say, take a break if you need to. If you're doing any of the video, you're doing your body some good. Just do your best, and you'll see the results. Your body does need to get use to month 2, even if you got through month 1 fine. It's a really tough workout!0

Czesc Sylwek! I'm just about to start looking into Insanity, so no advice from me but I just couldn't stop myself from saying hi because I have a slight suspicion that you may be Polish, like me. Have a great day!0

The first week of month two is probably the most challenging as it almost makes you feel like you are back at day one again. Keep pushing play and doing what you can. Try to focus on where you have improved (i.e. FIt Tests) and not on what you cannot do yet. I do agree that repeating month one can be a good option or at least doing week 4 over again.
As for R&R, while I dont use it for all the BB programs, for P90X and Insanity, to me it is a must. I will divulge that I am a BB coach so that is on the table and understood. Having said that, I used those products as do my other challengers, prior to becoming a Coach and even Shaun T drinks both the R&R after workouts and Shakeology (for which he is not paid to promote) as the value cannot be matched.
You have to decide what works best for you as did I and others. I am sure if you keep pushing play that each day will get better.
Wishing you much success!0 -
SleeplessinBe, Yes i am Polish, and I take it from your reply that you're polish as well
Thank you guys for the awesome response to my post, I've got to say this is the most supportive forum I've ever been one.
From what I've read, I pretty much have to just keep on going. I have gotten stronger, Because I feel like if I was to do the First month of Insanity, I might be able to keep up (Haven't tried it since I'm sticking to the program) Better then the first day i started.
I'm guessing that It's pretty much just like starting from the first day of month 1 in a sense. While the workouts are harder, and such... I still have to get used to this type of workout.
I'm just going to stick with the program like I have been, and keep on drinking Water to stay hydrated during the workout.
Thank you guys for the Support, and to everyone who commented

Good luck to you Sylwek.. I'm on my recovery week right now so I'll be starting Month 2 next Monday.. It's got me really intimidated too, I zipped through the video a few days ago and I was like "ugh.. I don't see how I can even DO that stuff!"
I'll try to keep the suggestions everyone else has given you in mind for next week, but I have a feeling there's going to be a fair amount of bending over, panting and trying to breath as our friend Shaun T keeps moving forward.0
